We have a variety of essential items to purchase for your hike. See below:

Due to high staff administration time, online orders will only be processed for items valued at $50 or above. For anything less, please check our opening times and visit our Shop when you are in Stewart Island.

We have plenty of gas canisters in stock and you can pre-order by completing our online booking form.

Gas Canisters

We stock 110 g, 230 gram and 450 gram screw on gas canisters that will also work with jetboil cookers.

Current Gas Stock Status: We have plenty of 110 gram, 230 gram and 450 gram gas canisters.

For fuel / gas orders, please also read the information on our FAQ’s.

Due to limited staffing, please avoid calling us to ask if we have enough gas. We will let you know on this page of this website our current gas stock status.

How much gas do I need

We suggest the following:

1 x 110 gram: should be enough for 2 persons for a 3 day hike e.g. Rakiura Great Walk, as long as you are not also boiling drinking water for daytime walking and you are only cooking freeze dry food and boiling water for hot drinks.

1 x 230 gram: should be enough for 2 to 3 persons for a 3 day hike, e.g. Rakiura Great Walk, as long as you are not also boiling drinking water for daytime walking and you are only cooking freeze dry food and boiling water for hot drinks.

1 x 450 gram: should be enough for 2 to 3 persons who are hiking the Northwest Circuit (9 – 12 days, but usually do their trek in 9 days). You may wish to take a 110 gram or 230 gram for spare incase you need it.

Please do not over-order as we will not issue refunds due to the cost of administration. Make sure you know what you need.
